Photo Requirements

When was the last time you bought a product online without a photo? Photos provide the best shopping experience for customers, helping to avoid buyer confusion and reducing returns. With so many products on GSA Advantage, making sure that your products have clear, high quality photos help your products stand out.

Note that certain SINs are required to have photos for each product listed. To find out if your SINs require photos, please visit the Schedules SIN-MOL-Photo-UPC look up table.

All photo files must be:

  • .JPEG, .JPG, or non-animated .GIF
  • No larger than 10MB, and at least 140 bytes.
  • At least 500x500 pixels.
  • Submitted via a ZIP file containing at least one image and no more than 100,000. ZIP file limit is 2GB.
  • Exact matches to the names on an approved Product File (or approved SIP/EDI transaction) to publish on GSA Advantage.
  • Representative of the actual product; do not use your company logo or a photo of a different product/model than what you are actually selling.

Best Practices for Product Listings

  • Provide Multiple Views: Include multiple product-specific photos to show different angles and help customers better understand the product, including base and accessory products.
  • Include photos for Options: If offering options, use base/accessory photos to represent available configurations and use the product description to explain the options.
  • Ensure quality: Photos should be well lit, high quality, and clear.
  • Framing: Ensure the full product is visible and occupies up to 80% of the image area.

Automatic Thumbnail Formatting

GSA Advantage automatically creates thumbnails of your images, and will resize photos to fit standard dimensions regardless of the resolution submitted. This includes resizing images to:

  • 200x200 for the search page.
  • 40x40 for image thumbnails on product details page.
  • 500x500 for large display mode on product details page.

To provide a consistent viewing experience, GSA Advantage will add white space as needed to make all images a square.
