Subcontracting for Subcontractors
Whether you are a large business or small, one way to increase your exposure in the Federal marketplace is to act as a subcontractor to prime vendors. Customer agencies get introduced to your company and your level of service, increasing your potential for receiving orders as a Prime Contractor. Extending your network of industry partners means greater chances of work, even if limited to work as a subcontractor. However, be aware that work as a subcontractor is not reportable as GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract sales and does not count toward the minimum sales requirements established in contract clause I-FSS-639 (Contract Sales Criteria).
Additional information about subcontracting is available here. Also, many Large businesses are required to subcontract to Small Businesses to the greatest extent practicable; therefore, GSA publishes a directory of those Large Businesses and their contact information.
